Carl Fallows is the record breaking High School wide receiver who is wanted by all the major colleges. Offered a place at William Patterson University in their mentoring scholarship programme, the eighteen year old jumps at the chance to join a team who have the best draft record into the NFL.

Ryan Cresswell is the mentor assigned to him, a fellow student who will help the budding football star with the simple things in life, such as cooking and cleaning amongst other things.

As Carl comes to realise the full range of duties that Ryan is willing to perform, he is torn between his life and his hidden desires.

Warning - This short story contains consensual sexual acts between two college students and is for readers of a mature and adult age only.

Now, I get that this short short story -the first in a series, actually- was meant to be an erotic fantasy, not a situation to be construed as real and this is usually fine.
Within limits.

The situation depicted in the story is such that the college student/football player who comes out of coach's office hurling insults could easily go to a top lawyer and sue the university with 110% possibility of obtaining a six-figure settlement, making the university close for good and see most of their employees in jail for procuring. And if I know Usonians, that student would do exactly that and later use the settlement money either to go to Harvard or to drink himself into a stupour and then kill himself driving his newly acquired Ferrari drunk.

Another uncomfortable issue is that the story, short on settlement though it is, still manages to strongly highlight how gangrenous the whole college sport system is (and always has been) with academically impaired students allowed to get an undeserved degree as long as they successfully play for the university team's "glory".
The situation is a given but most authors of erotica wisely choose to take it for granted and skim over the ethically questionable details to go on to the jock/nerd sexual interaction.

A further thorny point is that this "mentor" programme, letting the sexual implications aside for the moment, is rather disgusting.
To take an academically gifted young man and, instead of granting him the well deserved scholarship, granting it to him only if the student accepts to double as a chambermaid/slave for the all powerfull jock who in turn must obey to the all powerfull coach betrays a vision of people's role in society which is staggering in its lack of ethics and human decency.

Carl Signs Up The Programme Book 1 edition by Mike Andrews Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

An excellent read by a young author. Fascinating story line. As long as you do no object to th the sexual themes.
This book just hit the spot. Perhaps only to be recommended to an adult readership given it touches on issues of a slightly sensitive nature, its portrayal of gay sexuality and language however it is exceptionally well written and never fails to keep your attention.

Michael Andrews is relatively new on the scene and has to be congratulated.
